When it comes to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) reporting, understanding the definition of a full-time employee is important for employers to determine their Applicable Large Employer (ALE) status.
Under the ACA, a full-time employee who works 30 hours per week or a total of 130 hours per month.

Full-time employees and ALE
If you are an ALE Member, you must file Form 1095-C for each employee who was a full-time equivalent employee for any month of the calendar year.
Also, an ALE Member who sponsors a self-insured health plan must file part III of Form 1095-C for each employee (regardless of whether the employee is a full-time employee) who enrolls in the self-insured health coverage or enrolls a family member in the coverage, for any month of the calendar year.
